Tumble Bunnies' Ballet classes teach poise, grace, balance, and proper posture using up-to-date music and props such as hats, balls, cones, balloons, bells, scarves, and more in selected dances.  The ballerinas will learn steps to create a dance which they will perform on the last day of each session.  By emphasizing stage presence, social expression, play-acting, and movement to music, each class is both fun and a positive learning experience.

Ages 3-5

No special attire is necessary.

About the Instructor: Avis Saunders is a seasoned hairstylist and makeup artist with over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry. Her career began in the world of film and television makeup, where she honed her skills in creating camera-ready looks. Years later, she transitioned into bridal, using her expertise to craft picture-perfect looks for hundreds of brides and special events. Currently, Avis shares her passion and knowledge as the Stage Makeup Professor at Schoolcraft College in Livonia. She also owns and operates her own salon suite and co-owns an on-location bridal hair and makeup business, On the Glow.Avis firmly believes that makeup is for everyone and sees it as a powerful tool to help individuals express their confidence and beauty. Her classes at the War Memorial are designed to empower participants with the skills and knowledge to enhance their natural beauty and embrace their unique features.

Tumble Bunnies uses equipment to create fun, energized, and fast moving classes that teach children the sport of gymnastics.  Cartwheels, handstands, back walkovers, rolling, and skills taught on floor, bars, beam, vault, mats, tunnels, and trampolines are some examples of what children will learn from Tumble Bunnies' Gymnastics classes.  Movement To Music is included in every class which creates a fun atmosphere to build coordination, rhythm, and timing.

Back to School: Boy Power Mini Boot Camp

A perfect transition course for Back to School Season!  Boys will learn how to be confident, build self-esteem and be empowered. They will learn the skill of being assertive and strong while still being a kind person in sticky situations  -managing  misunderstandings, disagreements and unfriendly situations with friends and classmates as well as how to handle peer pressure especially in friendship situations.  Boys will play games and role play how to handle sticky situations.

Transitioning from summer fun to Back to School can be tough - this course can help! Girls will learn how to be confident, build self-esteem and be empowered.  They will learn the skill of being assertive and strong while still being a kind person in sticky situations  -managing misunderstandings, disagreements and unfriendly situations with friends and classmates, as well as how to handle peer pressure, especially in friendship situations.  Girls will make a Girl Power craft; Girl Power tool kit and role play how to handle sticky situations.

Kids Cooking Class with Chef Joe Paxton

Ages: 7 - 18

Learn how to craft a gourmet multi-course meal with The War Memorial’s own classically French-Trained Executive Chef Joe Paxton in our new Alger Center kitchen.  Kids will be taught how to make a restaurant quality dish in a way that is both approachable and fun!

Designed for young chefs ages 7 and older, this hands-on experience lets children explore the world of food through the lens of a trained executive chef in a real professional kitchen.

Please note, all children will be cooking the same meal at individual stations that are staffed by The War Memorial's culinary team.  As a result, we are unable to accomodate any dietary restrictions.

In this exciting class, kids will:

  • Learn Basic Cooking Skills: From chopping and mixing to measuring and stirring, kids will gain essential kitchen skills in a safe and supervised environment.
  • Explore New Ingredients: They'll discover a variety of fresh, healthy ingredients and learn about their flavors, textures, and nutritional benefits.
  • Create Delicious Dishes: Each session features fun, kid-friendly recipes that children will prepare themselves, always including a full meal!
  • Practice Kitchen Safety: They'll learn important kitchen safety tips and proper hygiene practices, ensuring a safe cooking experience.
  • Enjoy a Full Meal: At the end of each class, kids will enjoy the gourmet meal that they created!

Join us for a culinary adventure that will inspire your child's taste buds and boost their confidence in the kitchen!

Our chef-crafted menu will feature a Garden Salad w/ House Ranch, Pan-Seared Chicken w/ Apple Cider Pan Sauce, Roasted Yukon Gold Lyonnaise, and Orange-Glazed Carrots

 

Closed toe shoes are required.

Long pants are required. No Shorts or dresses.

We are unable to accomodate dietary restrictions.

Ages 7+

All children will receive a chef hat to bring home.

Bring containers for leftovers.
